Collinsville Daily News and Granite City Daily News

My name is Stephanie Malench and I am the new Owner/Publisher of the Collinsville Daily News (CDN) and Granite City Daily News (GCDN). These free, fact based news sources cover the Collinsville School District Unit 10 communities of Maryville, Caseyville, and Fairmont City and Granite City/Madison School Districts. I was a special events reporter for the CDN for 2 years before I bought the Collinsville Daily News from Founding Publisher Jackie Duty, who launched the publication on February 14, 2022 to fill a void left behind by the closing of the Collinsville Herald over 10 years ago. and served as a reporter, editor, layout artist, ad sales team member, and more for another local print and digital publication for nearly 3 years prior. On September 29, 2025, I launched the Granite City Daily News as they had been a news desert for nearly the same length of time and wanted to know what was going on in their communities.

Local, unbiased news is critically important. Unlike other balanced digital and print publications, there are no paywalls for any of our content.

The Collinsville Daily News is also one of the only Spanish publications covering the Collinsville, Caseyville, Fairmont City area.

The combination of no subscription fees, free features, and businesses tightening their advertising budgets were making difficult for Duty to keep the paper running without extreme personal sacrifices, leading to the sale of the publication to me.
